Designed Eyes is a member of the Australasian Dispensing Opticians Association. Dispensing Opticians are the prescription dispensers for optometrists and ophthalmologists. They are experts in the dispensing, manufacture and repair of spectacles and associated optical appliances. By the end of 2009 A.D.O.A (Victoria) will introduce an accreditation scheme in order to self regulate the field of optical dispensing. |

Proud of what we do At Designed Eyes we’re proud to carry on the very old trade of spectacle making. Spectacle making is an art form and a science combined. We work with our hands and our minds. The highest degree of tactile skill is required as well as the patience and poise of a zen Buddhist monk. One slip and it’s ruined! Like all art forms, spectacle making is a bitter sweet. The ruined lens versus the completed masterpiece of eyewear, it’s all part of the trek of the artisan. |

Your glasses: A long term purchase If you’re only paying a tank of petrol for your glasses, what are you getting? Like everything, you pay for what you get and it’s no different in optics. We recommend you find a friendly dispensing optician or optometrist whom you trust. Trust them fully and listen to their advice. If you don’t trust them 100%, go somewhere else. Remember you’re paying for their service, advice, education and experience. All that has a value. Spectacles purchased cheaply are low in value. There is no such thing as a free lunch. |
